Okanagan Symphony school concert series: How Canada came to be.

Dear Teachers, Parents and Music Educators,

Music students at Glenmore Elementary are looking forward to an amazing opportunity next spring; they're going to perform in Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra as part of the OSO's 50th anniversary season of performing professional-level symphonic music in the Okanagan Valley.

"How Canada Came To Be: A Story of You and Me" is an orchestral adaptation by Claude Lapalme of original works and traditional folk songs arranged by Rhonda Draper, Glenmore Elementary Music Specialist and 2007 Governor General's Award Winner for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History for "How Canada Came to Be".

The 45-minute multi-disciplinary performance featuring with the Glenmore Grizzly Bear Singers will be another new OSO experience, and the interactivity among the singers, Rhonda Draper, and the orchestra with the audience promises to yield exciting performances for participants and spectators alike. Conducted by Music Director Rosemary Thomson, the shows highlight storytelling, singing, audience participation and large screen images of Canada's past. Draper says the show brings to life the glory and drama of the Canadian story and helps young Canadians learn more about how they came to be Canadian. The show is aimed at Grades one to six.
It will be in Vernon on Tuesday, April 13, at Trinity United Church at 9:30 & 10:45am. Seats for the morning shows are $6 per student or parent/educator

Meeting?

Edit: Meeting tonight is CANCELLED. Rescheduled for next Thursday, April 1st, 7 til 10pm at Talkin' Donkey.
Last Thursday of the month approaches quickly... We have the meeting room upstairs at Talkin' Donkey reserved from 7 until 10pm. Some of us are going to "Boy Smarts" talk that night so won't be attending. Can you leave a comment if you're planning to go to the meeting so others can plan accordingly? Thanks! Happy Spring!
