Hi

Just moved to Vernon. Have 3 kiddos (7, 4&1). Looking to meet some other Home Schoolers and join some activities, maybe organize some, and learn about the area. We are renting a house in Bella Vista area. Can others read these e-mails? When is the next get together? I don't usually go anywhere without my kids or my nursing toddler but now with 3 shopping is getting more challening....

Welcome Delia :)

I'm Angela, mom to Meg (newly turned nine) and Lilah (turned five in June). We live up at Silver Star.

Valhalla up at Silver Star usually sells their last year's rentals for a good deal before the season starts. I'm not sure how you'd get in touch with them right now, but I can look into it if you're interested. Also, I saw some snowshoes in the L.L. Bean catalogue that were reasonable priced.

I don't know about snowshoe trails down in Vernon, but up here at Silver Star there's a good variety that are very kid-friendly. And with all the snow we got overnight, the trails up here just might be ready pretty soon!

I ordered snowshoes through Sears of all places - they had reasonable prices considering we needed 4 pairs and I didn't have to drive all around looking - an issue when you live out of town.

I haven't perfected sourdough yet either - sigh.........

Hi Delia,

My name is Jill and I have three girls, (7,3, and nine months). I think we probably live fairly close- we are just at the bottom of Bella Vista Rd. The next parent support meeting is next Thursday night at Bean to Cup on 27th St and 39th. Ave. We usually start at seven and sometimes go quite late. Some of us have been meeting for hikes or play times every Friday afternoon and you are welcome to join us. I don't think anything is planned yet for this week but we will post here if we do something.

Hi Delia,
I'm Julie. I'm mom to two girls, 12 and 8. I've been making a couple of different kinds of sourdough bread - one is a rye/whole wheat bread that's pretty heavy, but I really like it toasted (doesn't go so well with sweet things, though). The other one kind of cheats a bit because it uses yeast for the initial starter, but after that you just use a cup of the reserved starter instead. It's made of white and whole wheat flour - my kids prefer it to the first one. Just let me know if you'd like either recipe.

Welcome Delia,
I have 2 children. Justin is 5.5 and Ashleigh just turned 4. This is our first year homeschooling. I think we live close by as well. I usually go to the monthly parent support meetings as well, but have to miss this month.
